Yuanbei Island, situated in the East China Sea within the Penghu Islands, is an intriguing destination. Despite its name, which suggests a haven for birds, there are no signs of bird flocks today. This peculiarity has given rise to an old saying in Penghu: “Bird Island has no birds, and Cat Island has no cats.”
In addition to its bird-related name, Bird Island is also renowned for its well-developed columnar joints of basalt. These geological formations are arranged in rows, creating an impressive display that resembles towering cliffs.
Please note that the opening hours and the specific business status of the island are subject to the day’s operational conditions.
