Yunlin Story House, a Japanese-style wooden building constructed during the Taisho era (1920-1923), stands as a quaint testament to over 80 years of local narratives. This building, much like an intelligent elder with an endless array of tales, serves as a shared memory for many. It offers a platform for the citizens of Yunlin County to engage in cultural exchange through various forms of storytelling: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and performing. Stories are shared, created, and displayed through oral narratives, text, illustrations, and drama, weaving an invisible thread that connects people’s past, present, and future.
The activities at the Story House are designed to help everyone understand the importance and necessity of preserving cultural heritage and ensuring its continuity. The house is open to the public throughout the year, operating from Monday to Wednesday and Saturday to Sunday, between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.
