The ancient Chinese castle is located on Hebei Road, Heping District, Tianjin. It is one of the classic buildings on the Five Avenues. Also known as ‘Gedalou’. This building was originally an Italian-style foreign building built in 1937. Later, after renovation, the exterior is covered with porcelain tiles, which is very characteristic and has thus become a landmark building in Tianjin. The ‘lumps’ of Gedalou refer to the rough texture of the overburned brick on the outside of this building, with many small protrusions.
Around each protrusion, the homeowner has integrated the ancient porcelain style with the charm of traditional Chinese culture into the building with numerous porcelain pieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is very special to view from the outside and is also suitable for taking pictures. Gedalou was once open as a restaurant. Now it is being renovated and transformed into a museum. The specific opening time of the museum is unknown. Therefore, currently, only the exterior appearance of the building can be viewed from the outside. Open all year round and open all day.Gedalou
