The Shilong Gorge Scenic Area in Jixian County, Tianjin is located in the north of Duanzhuang Village, Xiaying Town, Jixian County. It is 25 kilometers away from the county seat and has a total area of more than 2,000 hectares. Here, the peaks and valleys are majestic and dangerous, the pools and waterfalls have long flowing streams, the vines climb and twine, and the mountain scenery is like a painting.
The name of Shilong Gorge has a touching legend. Under the Guilong Bridge, there is a complete stone dragon with its head and tail. Half of it is hidden in the stream. If it wants to swim upstream, it is said that the dragon in ‘Longqiu’ wants to fly out of the ditch in the fog and jump out of the dragon gate. Immediately, it turns into a carp. The little dragon regrets it and quickly turns back and jumps back on Longqiu. Although it turns into a dragon again, it is exhausted and unable to swim upstream again. So it hides in the water and turns into a stone dragon. The Shilong Gorge scenic area can be divided into upper and lower sections. The upper section is mainly composed of strange stones, longevity woods and a large area of mixed forests, collectively called ‘Cuishoupo’. The slopes are full of exotic flowers and rare ancient trees, and the whole mountain is green. The lower section is mainly composed of bridges and waterfalls. There are more than a dozen stone arch bridges, iron cable bridges, plank roads and stepping stones. And there are countless pools and waterfalls.
