Wutai is located in the Dawu mountain area at the southern end of the Central Mountain Range. The altitude is around 1000 meters. As it is located deep in the mountains and forests, the average annual temperature is about 17-18 degrees Celsius. There are numerous peaks and ridges in the territory, and white mist lingers all year round. The scenery is charming. The rich Rukai culture, slate houses and the hundred-pace snake totem are all manifested in architecture and objects.

The hundred-pace snake is a symbol of the ancestral spirits of the Rukai people. Therefore, images of the hundred-pace snake combined with figures can be seen in wood carvings or stone carvings. Taking a trip to Wutai will give you another profound experience of Rukai culture. Tourists who love mountain culture may wish to participate in the harvest festival held in mid-August. There are a series of grand singing and dancing, swing competitions, throwing competitions, evening parties, etc.

Before August 15 of the Gregorian calendar every year, the Rukai people will hold it. On August 15 of the Gregorian calendar every year, there is a grand traditional sacrificial ceremony and event of the Rukai people in Wutai Township – the harvest festival. Tourists can go and play.
