The Shiqiu Ridge Fort is located in the south of Keelung Port. It is a designated historical site in Keelung City. In the early years, it was an important military facility for guarding Keelung Port and shielding the Taipei Basin. It was built in 1884 during the tenth year of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. It is rumored that in order to strengthen coastal defenses and resist the invasion of the French army, Liu Mingchuan, the governor of the Qing Dynasty, hired British technicians to build it. As a fort with a relatively high terrain in the Keelung port area, the Shiqiu Ridge Fort has played a role in repelling the enemy in both the Sino-French War and the Yiwei Campaign.
