To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, the exhibition “Discovering Ho Mu-chun” was inaugurated on the 10th at the China Art Palace, with sponsorship from the China Art Palace (Shanghai Art Museum) and support from the Liu Haisu Art Museum. Ho Mu-chun, hailing from Ningbo, has lived in various cities including São Paulo, Paris, and Shanghai. In her forties, she embarked on her academic journey in France, diligently studying at the private studio ‘La Grande Chaumière’. A self-taught professional artist, Ho Mu-chun achieved a significant milestone in 1968 by winning a major award at the French Women’s Salon Exhibition with her oil painting series “Toy Series”. Following this success, she was frequently invited to exhibit her works across various European countries.

This exhibition presents a systematic display of Ho Mu-chun’s representative works from different periods, thoroughly exploring her artistic achievements and academic value. It is considered the most comprehensive and large-scale solo exhibition of Ho Mu-chun’s work to be held in Shanghai in recent years. From the early “Toy Series” to the later “Untitled”, Ho Mu-chun’s distinctive artistic aesthetics imbue everyday objects with a powerful force, transforming the apples in her paintings into fists and the bread into hard stones.

The exhibition is open from September 10 to November 10. Please note that the specific business status may vary depending on the situation on any given day.
