Square Park, alternatively known as Yanzhong Green Space, is a sizable public green area situated at the junction of Jing’an, Luwan, and Huangpu districts, specifically on East Yan’an Road. This open urban garden is a blend of sightseeing, leisure, and entertainment.
The green space within the Jing’an section spans 34,800 square meters, boasting a greenery coverage rate of 75%. It preserves historical and commemorative protected buildings, such as the site of the Second National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Common People’s Women’s School. The park also includes a large waterfall, winding deep pools, and a North American-style pavilion.
The layout of the green space is segmented into three distinct parts:
1. The southern part is dedicated to showcasing historical culture. It is centered around the site of the Second National Congress and the Common People’s Women’s School, encircled by Mexican bald cypress forests, red flowers, and boxwood, which together create a solemn atmosphere.
2. The central part of the park is an urban forest space characterized by its undulating terrain. It is dominated by tall trees and complemented by a variety of flowering shrubs and lawns, resulting in a beautiful landscape with a rich sense of hierarchy. A large Chinese catalpa tree, preserved through scientific methods, thrives here and has become a marvel within the green space.
3. The northern part is a natural landscape space, featuring large artificial mountains and waterfalls. It is adorned with valuable flowers and trees, including a bamboo forest on the east side, pine and cypress on the mountain, and maple reflections. At the foot of the mountain, there is a pool of wild interest.
Each section of Square Park contributes to making it a unique and vibrant public space for residents and visitors alike.Yanzhong Green Space is a breathtaking urban oasis, featuring cherry blossom paths and beech tree-lined avenues that create a spectacular and beautiful ‘urban forest’ landscape.
