The Tianjin Yangliuqing Woodblock New Year Picture Museum is a public welfare exhibition hall, situated at No. 111 Sanheli, Tonglou, Hexi District, Tianjin. It specializes in the collection, research, and display of distinctive Yangliuqing woodblock New Year pictures.
Designed in an antique architectural style, the museum boasts an exhibition area of 1724 square meters. It features 619 Yangliuqing woodblock New Year pictures on display and possesses a vast collection of over ten thousand New Year pictures dating back to the Ming Dynasty, along with more than 6400 ancient woodblocks. In terms of architectural standards, the number of exhibits, and the richness of its collection, the Yangliuqing Woodblock New Year Picture Museum is unrivaled among China’s New Year picture museums.
The exhibition hall is organized into seven sections: ‘Historical Heritage’, ‘Opera Stories’, ‘Ancient Block Treasures’, ‘Ladies and Dolls’, ‘Secular Life’, ‘Dai Qi Workshop – Protection and Development’, and ‘Chinese New Year Picture Collection’. Each exhibition hall within the museum is thoughtfully designed with physical landscapes that resonate with the themes of the New Year pictures, recreating the folk customs and traditions of the New Year culture. This design approach brings the exhibition content to life, making it three-dimensional and vivid.
The museum is open all year round, operating from Tuesday to Sunday between 09:00 and 16:30. It remains closed all day on Mondays throughout the year. For specific business hours on national holidays, announcements are made separately on the public account. Please note that actual business hours may vary depending on the situation on the day of opening.
