The Upward-Flowing Water is a scenic spot in Taiwan. It is located near the Yuqiao in Duran Village, Donghe Township, Taitung County. Specifically, it is at 152K on Provincial Highway 11 heading towards Taitung. Turn about 50 meters and it is by the roadside. Here, there is an agricultural irrigation ditch. At first glance, the gurgling water flows up from a low place to a high place along the ditch, which is astonishing. In fact, it is because the scenery on both sides here has a slope greater than that of the road surface, creating the illusion of water flowing upward. Due to the upward-flowing water, an inconspicuous irrigation ditch has become famous and often attracts tourists to come and watch. Whether one believes it or not, it is worth going to the scene in person to see it with one’s own eyes and experience this wonder known throughout Taiwan. The Taiwan East Coast National Scenic Area Administration has set up a recreation center and a parking lot here and erected a stone tablet with the words ‘Wonder’. This makes it a famous tourist attraction on the east coast. Open all year round and open all day. Tips: Since this scenic spot is far from Taitung City, it is recommended to drive or charter a car to go there.
