The Weiwuying Art Center is located in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung City, adjacent to the Weiwuying Metropolitan Park, with a total base area of 9.9 hectares, of which the building area is 3.3 hectares. The fluid shape of sound waves and the free curves of white waves smoothly flow into the ground, seamlessly integrating with the surrounding environment. Inspired by the ancient banyan tree clusters of Weiwuying, designed by Dutch architect Fransyn Hoop, these trees, over a hundred years old, with their intertwined roots and branches, create a scene of interplay between the real and the virtual.

This has inspired the architect to endow Weiwuying with a sense of permeability and rhythmic breathing. The entire building allows the public to enter the venue from all directions without any barriers, and the transparent space extending from the hall’s roof is the Banyan Tree Plaza, which is open to everyone 24 hours a day. People can freely move through it, and comfortably engage in activities and rest.

An art center without fences not only aids in the flow of air but also creates a sense of space where theater and life are at zero distance. The Weiwuying Art Center was inaugurated on October 13, 2018, actively developing the performing arts environment in southern Taiwan and becoming an important international art base. It is open all year round from 11:00 to 21:00, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening status.
