The Yuli Wildlife Reserve is located on the eastern side of the main ridge of the Central Mountain Range in Zhuoxi Township, Hualien County, Taiwan, adjacent to important habitats such as Yushan National Park and Dan Da Wildlife… It is a wildlife reserve and important habitat designated according to the Wildlife Conservation Law. In 1973, the Forestry Bureau established the reserve to preserve the mother forests of red cypress and Taiwan cedar; in 1981, the protection scope was expanded to include wildlife, and in 1992, the area was extended to the upper reaches of the Fengping River. In 2000, it was officially declared a wildlife reserve and an important wildlife habitat under the Wildlife Conservation Law; in 2011, the ‘Ruisui Ecological Education Hall’ was established near Ruisui Railway Station in Hualien, adhering to the mission of ‘promoting ecological information and implementing conservation actions’, providing the public with information about Taiwan’s natural environment and the reserve. The reserve is open all year round, 24 hours a day.
